Beijing, China – November 1, 2016 – Maxim has launched an ultra-small hSensor platform to help quickly and easily validate next-generation solutions for health, wellness and high-end fitness wearables.

Building a custom board with sensors is a very complicated task because engineers must first build custom hardware and firmware to validate the design principles and build prototypes before field trials. As a result, engineers often spend a lot of time evaluating sensors and existing solutions. Maxim's hSensor platform integrates all hardware modules on a single PCB and implements easy-to-use hardware functions through the ARM mbed Hardware Development Kit (HDK), reducing prototyping time by three to six months.

The hSensor platform, the MAXREFDES100# reference design, includes the hSensor board, complete driver firmware, debug board, and graphical user interface (GUI). Using the firmware source code provided on the Maxim website, the platform allows designers to load algorithms from different cases to suit their specific application. Customers can download firmware optimized designs, accelerate evaluations, and dramatically reduce time to market. The hSensor platform is the only complete and ideal development platform for health, wellness and high-end fitness wearable applications on the market today, such as chest straps, electrocardiographs, wristband devices, thermometers, disposable temperature stickers, oximetry, smart weighing instruments. , biometrics, etc. For example, engineers can design a wearable patch from a single CR2032 battery to continuously record an electrocardiogram with twice the lifetime of the current solution—saving more than 50% of the power.
