HTC Vive Pro opens pre-sale country line 6488 yuan

At the CES 2018 event earlier this year, HTC unveiled the HTC Vive Pro Professional VR headset. This new model brought significant improvements over its predecessor, including a 78% increase in OLED screen resolution and built-in features. Now, HTC has officially announced the release date and pricing for the professional version of the Vive Pro. Pre-orders are now open, with shipments beginning on April 5. The base model will be available at a price of $799 (approximately 6,488 RMB). Compared to the original HTC Vive, the Vive Pro features dual OLED displays, offering a resolution of 2880x1600 (1440x1600 per eye), which translates to 615 PPI. This represents a major upgrade in visual clarity, resulting in sharper text and graphics, as well as reduced instances of motion sickness and dizziness. The design of the Vive Pro also received a major overhaul, particularly in the headband. It includes an adjustable dial for easy customization, along with an ergonomic design that ensures better weight distribution and comfort during extended use. In addition to the improved display and comfort, the Vive Pro comes equipped with built-in headphones, dual microphones, and dual front-facing cameras. It is compatible with both the 1.0 and 2.0 versions of the SteamVR tracking system. Users can set up up to four base stations for room-scale tracking, expanding the tracking area from 4.5x4.5 meters to 10x10 meters. HTC also introduced an upgraded wireless solution: the Vive Wireless Adapter, which supports both the Vive and Vive Pro. This device uses Intel WiGig technology (60GHz) to provide lower latency and enhanced performance. For those looking to purchase, the recommended graphics card for the Vive Pro is a GTX 1060 or RX 480, though users can still utilize the original Vive controllers and base stations. Alongside the launch of the Vive Pro, HTC also reduced the price of the previous-generation Vive by $100, bringing it down to $499 (approximately 4,888 RMB). Additionally, HTC announced that anyone who purchases the Vive Pro before June 3 will receive a free six-month subscription to the Viveport service. This makes the Vive Pro not only a powerful upgrade but also a great value for early adopters.
