Niwat Chayakul, director of the Energy and Research and Development Department of TheProvincial Electricity Authority (PEA), said at the 2014 New Energy Lighting Show (EcoLightTechAsia2014) in Bangkok, Thailand that the Thai home lighting market is not expected to be fully activated in five years.
Niwat Chayakul pointed out that the price of local LED bulbs in Thailand has dropped sharply, and the price is roughly the same as that of energy-saving lamps. Many companies, including China's LED factory Op, Taiwan's LED manufacturer, Zeoda Photonics and Furui International, said that the price of LEDT8 lamps prevailing in Thailand has also fallen sharply.
Five years ago, the company's LEDT8 lamp cost 1,500 baht (about 281 yuan) or more, but now the price of LEDT8 lamp has dropped to 500 to 800 baht (equivalent to about 94 to 150 yuan).
Despite the decline in the price of LED bulbs, Thai consumers have not increased their buying power. Niwat Chayakul pointed out that the price of LED bulbs must be reduced to a range acceptable to the average household.

In order to further promote LED lighting to ordinary consumers, PEA is currently entering a large customer base through its subsidiary PEAENCOM to develop consumer lighting products.
PEA is a local traditional electricity supplier in Thailand. The power range covers provinces outside Bangkok. The customer base types include homes, universities, hospitals, factories and companies, and have a large customer base with a total of approximately 15 million users.
China's LED manufacturer Furi Lighting, Thailand's distributor, Thaifill's managing director Songsak Sakruangngam revealed that PEAENCOM's LED bulbs are appointed by Furi Lighting, which is headquartered in Fujian Province, especially the R&D department engineers of the company. All are Chinese Taiwanese.
