Operational amplifier for motion sensors is launched

ROHM (headquartered in Kyoto, Japan) has developed an operational amplifier "BD5291G / BD5291FVE" suitable for signal amplification applications of motion sensors such as acceleration (shock), angular velocity, and pressure.

In recent years, sensors that detect information such as acceleration and angular velocity are widely used in many applications including smartphones, tablets, and portable game consoles. The sensor is an element that converts various physical changes generated by the application into signals. In order to use the small signals output, these signals must be amplified. The amplifier for the sensor is arranged behind the sensor and is used to amplify the signal. However, when it is necessary to amplify a small signal with high precision, fine analog technology is required.

This product utilizes the simulation technology that ROHM is good at, under 1.7V low voltage operating conditions, not only achieves full input and output amplitude, but also handles small signals by about 18 times higher accuracy than previous products, achieving higher accuracy (high Common mode signal rejection ratio).

The BD5291G has been selling samples in August 2013 (the sample price is 50 yen), and plans to start mass production with a monthly output of 500,000 units in November 2013. The production base for the early stage process is ROHM Hamamatsu Co., Ltd. (Hamatsu City, Japan), and the production base for the later stage process is ROHM Electronics Philippines Inc. (Philippines). The smaller package BD5291FVE plans to start selling samples in December 2013 (sample price is 50 yen), and in March 2014, it will temporarily put into mass production at a scale of 500,000 units per month. The production base of the previous process is ROHM Wako Co. , Ltd. (Okayama Prefecture, Japan), the production base for the later process is ROHM Integrated Systems (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (Thailand).
