Motorola Mobile sues Apple infringement again: involving services such as Siri

On the morning of August 18th, Beijing time, Google (Weibo) Motorola (Weibo) Mobile said it has filed a new patent infringement lawsuit against Apple. The lawsuit alleges that products such as Apple ’s Siri voice assistant service infringed Motorola ’s mobile patents.

Motorola Mobile filed this lawsuit with the US International Trade Commission (ITC), alleging that Apple products infringed the company's 7 patents. The Apple products involved in the lawsuit include location reminder services, email notification services, and mobile video players. Motorola Mobile has requested to ban the import of iPhone, iPad and Mac computers in the United States. Apple products are mainly produced in Asia.

Motorola Mobile said in an e-mail statement: "We hope to settle these patent disputes, but Apple is reluctant to cooperate in licensing. We have no choice but to defend our own innovations and engineers."

Since 2010, patent disputes have occurred between Motorola Mobile and Apple, when the licensing negotiations between the two parties failed. Apple said that Motorola Mobile made unreasonable requests, and said that Motorola Mobile and other manufacturers ’Android phones copied the key functions of the iPhone.

This is the second lawsuit filed by Motorola Mobile against Apple. ITC plans to make a judgment on a previous lawsuit on August 24, and may issue an import ban on the iPhone. Apple has not yet commented on the case.
