At the Microsoft WinHEC 2016 Hardware Engineering Industry Innovation Summit, Microsoft and Qualcomm happily reached a tacit understanding of the full support of the Opteron processor for Windows 10 systems. The ARM chip can actually run Win32 programs for the first time through the emulator (emulaTIon), thus blurring the boundaries between computers and mobile phones.
Although Microsoft demonstrated with the Snapdragon 820 processor, it will not be until next year that it will see the ARM device running Win10. The first product will be equipped with the Snapdragon 835 processor. This means that existing devices may not be compatible with the full version of Windows 10, including the HP Elite X3 with the Opteron 820 chip, but the Elite X3 can still run x86 programs through the HP Workspace virtual machine.
