This certification will also be eligible for ENERGY STAR certification as the luminaire must be listed in the UL List to qualify for the ENERGY STAR label.
In addition, LUXEON Rebel lenses that are UL approved to promote the use of Class 1 power supplies to help improve the performance of various LED applications, such as street lighting, meet UL requirements for electrical enclosures, eliminating the need for a comprehensive UL survey as before; The requirements have hampered the use of more efficient Class 1 power supplies.
UL certification is a de facto mandatory requirement for US lighting products, as all major agencies require certification, including municipalities, government agencies, architects, and insurance companies.
