Glass Edge Stress Tester Calibration Sheet

Sharp Path Block S-67 Calibration Tablet (Ref.S-75)

(Specifically Designed for Sharp Edge Stress Meter Calibration)

The Sharp Path Block S-67 Calibration Tablet (Ref.S-75) is a specialized tool developed for calibrating the Sharp Edge Stress Instrument (Ref.S-67). It is also suitable for calibrating Other polarized light stress meters, making it a versatile accessory in optical stress measurement applications.

This calibration tablet is designed to help operators ensure consistent and accurate measurements when calibrating edge stress instruments. Unlike standard calibration patches that provide uniform path length retardation, this one features a unique fringe pattern that mimics the stress distribution found in laminated windshields. Specifically, it exhibits increasing compressive stress at one edge and a small amount of tensile stress at the opposite edge, which closely simulates real-world conditions.

For proper calibration, the optical path retardation must be measured at four distinct points—labeled A, B, C, and D. Point A corresponds to the location with the highest compressive stress. During the calibration process, the analyzer should be rotated counterclockwise until the measured point shows the darkest color, which indicates the maximum birefringence or tensile stress. Conversely, when measuring the maximum compressive stress at point A, the analyzer should be turned clockwise so that the center of the stripe aligns with the edge of the sample.

The calibration chip is housed in a compact chassis, ensuring ease of handling and storage. Its dimensions are approximately 100mm x 100mm x 9mm, making it convenient for use in laboratory or field settings. This device is an essential component in the verification process for stress measurement instruments, helping maintain high standards of accuracy and reliability.
