Dr. Wang Yu was invited to attend the future forum _ with Li Feifei Zhou Zhihua to discuss artificial intelligence

On October 29th, the “Future Computer Artificial Intelligence” seminar took place as part of the 2017 Future Forum Annual Conference in Beijing. Dr. Wang Yu, co-founder of Shenjian Technology, was invited to participate in the event and engaged in a discussion with five leading figures in the AI field. During the session, Dr. Wang highlighted that AI, despite its relatively short history, has made remarkable progress and holds immense potential beyond what people currently expect. The two-day 2017 Future Forum Annual Meeting kicked off at the China World Hotel in Beijing. The conference featured 14 seminars and brought together over 40 influential scientists to discuss pressing social issues. Dr. Wang Yu represented Shenjian Technology, an innovative leader in the AI industry, in the “Computer Science Artificial Intelligence” seminar. The event also welcomed prominent experts from academia, including Li Yunfei, a professor at Stanford University; Dawn Song, a computer science professor at UC Berkeley; and Zhou Zhihua, an academician of ACM and AAAI. Industry leaders such as Wang Jin, founder of Jingchi Technology, and Shen Haijun, CEO of Car, were also present. Dr. Wang Yu, standing second from the right, shared his insights on the current state of AI and entrepreneurship. Having transitioned from a professor at Tsinghua University’s Department of Electronic Engineering to a co-founder of Shenjian, he emphasized that there is no fundamental difference between academia and industry in AI. Both aim to explore cutting-edge research, though their application focuses differ. He noted that while entrepreneurship draws from academic research, it also faces more immediate pressures. When asked about China’s semiconductor industry, Dr. Wang expressed optimism, believing it will benefit from the third AI boom. He pointed to three key factors: market growth, supportive government policies, and increasing investment in AI talent. With China already being a major player in the AI market, he predicted continued expansion. The National Development Plan for New Generation AI has elevated AI to a national priority, offering strong policy and financial support. Additionally, greater attention is being given to cultivating AI talent across various fields, providing a solid foundation for both companies and the nation. Reflecting on the 60-year evolution of AI, Dr. Wang affirmed that the field is undergoing continuous iteration. He mentioned that developments like those seen in Nvidia have taken decades to unfold, and AI advancement follows a similar pattern. Looking ahead, he suggested that breakthroughs could come from hardware upgrades or even chemical and material innovations, making future AI development faster than expected. At the end of the seminar, experts encouraged young people interested in science to pursue their passions and commit to long-term research. Dr. Wang, who once taught at Tsinghua University, advised students to focus on their interests and persist for at least five to ten years. This invitation to the highly influential Future Forum reaffirms Shenjian Technology’s growing recognition within the academic community. Recently, the company successfully closed its A+ round of financing, raising $40 million. Moving forward, Shenjian will continue to focus on deep learning acceleration, aiming to deliver more efficient, cost-effective, and accessible AI solutions for the industry.
