Deep layout artificial intelligence, Intel invests 12 startups in one breath

On October 25, Intel Capital announced today that it has invested in 12 technology innovation companies at its global summit for a total of $38 million. These new companies joining the Intel portfolio are developing new technologies including Internet of Things solutions for the elderly and people with disabilities, advanced audio technologies for 360-degree virtual reality systems, and human-like vision systems in smart connected cars.

Two of the 12 companies surveyed are from China's startups engaged in data and connectivity. One of them is Zhuoyi Technology, a smart city developer and service provider with proprietary core firmware (BIOS) technology, focusing on application software and firmware development, system integration and data center services. He is the only one in China. A company that provides BIOS technology between hardware and systems is an important reason for Intel to invest in it.

The other is Grand Core (also known as Conch Communications), which provides high-power, high-linearity, high-efficiency, wide-band and highly integrated RF front-ends for wireless LAN infrastructure, wireless connectivity on mobile platforms, and intelligent Internet of Things. Device, Dr. Peng Ping, general manager of Grande Core, told Netease Technology: "Their RF front-end can be applied to googlehub, Broadcom and Intel router products, and can also be applied in Xiaomi mobile phones." Is discussing cooperation with Intel.

The two companies chose Intel as an investor, mainly from the perspective that Intel can obtain more cooperation resources, and there are not many financial requirements; Intel’s investment in Grande core is also because it pioneered the “power RF”. The China Core platform enables the Grande core to introduce a high-power, high-linearity, high-bandwidth RF front-end based on a standard CMOS process in the industry; it not only produces a pin-to-pin alternative to current GaAs products. It is a key step for the full integration of RF power semiconductors into SOC.

Intel did not disclose the specific investment amount for confidentiality reasons.

Since entering China in 1998, Intel Capital has invested more than $1.9 billion in more than 140 Chinese technology companies, of which nearly 40 have been listed or acquired. Intel's key investments in China include cloud computing, big data analytics, the Internet of Things, smart devices, wearables, smart robotics, drones, car networking, virtual reality and augmented reality.

In addition to the two Chinese companies, there are eight US companies and one French company and one Canadian company, which are mainly engaged in automation machines, data and connectivity, sports and medical, and virtual reality projects that are in line with Intel's entire industry. During the summit, Intel Capital also presented the Intel Capital of the Year CEO Award to Liu Guang, co-founder and chairman of Dongfang Net Technology Co., Ltd., and co-founder and CEO of the company. Dongfang Netpower Technology Co., Ltd. was established in 2000, and obtained Intel B round investment in 2010. It was listed on the Growth Enterprise Market of Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2014.

Wendell Brooks, Intel's senior vice president and president of Intel Capital, said: "As the world becomes more intelligent and connected, billions of devices will become smarter through the wisdom of the cloud, and innovative technologies will see a spurt of growth. We are very We are pleased to partner with these visionary and innovative companies to improve people's lives and promote the industry through breakthrough technologies.” Yang Xu, Global Vice President and President of China, said: “We believe that we must rely on technological innovation. Promote the development of the industry, and ultimately promote the development of the social economy. In China, the country's policy environment, the atmosphere of innovation and culture, and the vitality of innovation are very good. In the new era of intelligent interconnection of all things, Intel will continue to practice with China. Commitment to the innovation community, through cooperation and innovation in many fields such as investment and technology, we will work hand in hand with China to achieve a win-win future."

Many of the 12 projects were driven by sports and medical care in Intel's new focus area. This new business highlights the recent view of Intel CEO Ke Zaiqi – “Digitalization is the biggest change in sports in decades.” In addition, Bi Wende also announced the establishment of a new Intel Sports Division. The business unit focuses on building partnerships with major sports leagues to leverage Intel technology to provide fans with a new immersive viewing experience. The business unit will be led by Bi Wende and will work closely with Intel's investment in the sports healthcare business.
