The "Sun Paper" panel was developed by Chicago-based Yolk and is currently fundraising on the crowdfunding site Kickstarter. According to the different output requirements of different devices, the panels are divided into four models: 2.5W, 5W, 7.5W and 10W. Among them, the most basic model is 2.5W, and the others are composed of multiple 2.5W panels.
For example, the 2.5W "Sun Paper" panel can fully charge the iPhone 6 or Galaxy S3 in 5 hours. 5W "Sun Paper" can charge similar devices, but the time to fully charge is reduced to 2.5 hours or 3 hours, depending on whether the weather is cloudy. The 7.5W "sun paper" is equivalent to a 5W battery pack, but generates more electricity in cloudy weather. 10W "Sun Paper" is suitable for charging tablets, such as iPad Air 2, which can be fully charged in 4.5 hours.
These "sun paper" panels can be connected using magnets or folded. Each panel is 17 cm long, 9 cm wide, 1.5 cm high, weighs 60 grams and is only 1.5 mm thick. In addition, this new panel features a unique automatic reset function. Whenever it is covered or repositioned in the sun, Sun Paper automatically stops or recharges, while other solar powered devices need to be reconnected each time. “Sun Paper†is also equipped with a low-power LCD screen that displays the amount of electricity generated by “Sun Paper†in real time.
