There is a huge threat hidden behind the rapid development of industrial IoT

With the development of the integration of information technology and industry, the Internet of Things and big data are becoming more and more popular in the industry. Numerous devices are connected to the network to facilitate monitoring and maintenance. However, there is a huge threat hidden behind the rapid development of the industrial Internet of Things. Once an industrial system is hacked, rewriting control programs will create catastrophic events for the factory. According to the latest report from cybersecurity company Kaspersky Lab, manufacturing has become the second industry most vulnerable to cyber attacks. The number of intrusions in industrial control systems (ICS) and manufacturing computers accounted for one third of all attacks. . The report shows that in the first half of 2017, about 18,000 different kinds of malicious software revamped industrial automation systems, and most of the cyber attacks occurred at manufacturing companies that manufacture materials, equipment, and goods. Affected sectors include engineering, education and food and beverages. Among them, energy company's ICS computer accounts for almost 5% of all attacks. Virus intrusion is mainly through the interface between the enterprise and the industrial network, the Internet access of the industrial network, and the connection of computers on the industrial network to the Internet through the mobile telephone network. The survey found that most of the encrypted Trojans were disguised as spam through the distribution of commercial communications, or malicious attachments or links to malware downloads. Under the assumption of how the two countries will engage in war, if one side uses the network to invade each other’s industrial control system and destroy thermal power, nuclear power, and oil, etc., as well as the people's livelihood projects, it will cause power outages, water cuts, and communication interruptions. Then the chaos is the next step. The consequences are unthinkable.
