Since 2008, in the new construction and renovation of lighting projects, the city has replaced ordinary transformers with new energy-saving box-type transformers with voltage regulation and voltage regulation. Up to now, more than 6,000 street lamps have been replaced by more than 125 watts of mercury lamps with high energy consumption and low light efficiency, and 110 watts of high-pressure sodium lamps with low energy consumption, high luminous efficiency, environmental protection, energy saving and strong penetrability.

Due to its good color rendering and power saving, LED lamps have been widely used as mature products for landscape lighting, replacing traditional neon lights and high-power wall washers. At night, the public will see LED lights flashing beautiful patterns in the bridges, the Victory Bridge, the Yingze Bridge, and the buildings along the street. The LED light of the same area is only 10% to 20% of the power of the neon, and its life is 5 to 10 times. Because the penetrating power of the LED lamp is not strong, it is used as a street lamp. What is the effect of functional lighting in the case of dim light such as rain or fog? The City Lighting Management Office actively assists in the trial of new energy-saving products. 6 streets including Taoyuan Road and Yingxin Street in the provincial capital were used. Taiyuan City, one of the 11 national low-carbon lighting research centers in the country named by the Ministry of Construction, recently conducted scientific experiments and data collection on new products such as LED lights.

At present, the provincial street lighting has basically realized the adjustment of street lighting time according to the weather and latitude, according to weather and other weather factors, 71% of the urban lighting facilities have realized the "three remote" wireless monitoring and GPRS mode monitoring, unified control. In some small streets, an automatic switch controller is installed to perform point-by-point control to accurately turn on and off the light. Calculated by half an hour of error, 335.8 kWh of electricity can be saved throughout the year. In the surrounding areas of the city, the street traffic management mode is implemented in the streets with low traffic flow and low flow of people. At present, it involves more than 10,000 lamps in 46 streets of the provincial capital, saving nearly 6 million kilowatt hours, and saving more than 400 million yuan in electricity annually.
