Fairchild Semiconductor Introduces New LED Lighting Driver MOSFET

As a leader in MOSFET technology, Fairchild Semiconductor has introduced the latest LED lighting driver. The FLS0116, FLS3217, and FLS3247 with integrated MOSFET and power factor correction (PFC) are optimized for low power LED applications. With the addition of integrated power MOSFETs, these three devices help minimize board area and overall component count while reducing design time. These devices feature cycle-by-cycle current limit and integrated protection features such as overtemperature protection (OTP) and undervoltage lockout (UVLO) to help significantly improve the reliability of LED lighting systems.

The FLS0116 utilizes "adapted digital" technology to automatically detect AC and DC input voltage conditions to enable and disable the PFC function while providing programmable oscillation frequency and analog dimming and soft-start functions. The FLS3217 and FLS3247 feature primary-side regulation (PSR) for both isolated flyback converters and non-isolated DC-DC converter applications. In addition, these devices use precision constant current control (CC) to precisely regulate the output current and increase efficiency for a simpler design with linear frequency control.

These three devices are new to Fairchild's portfolio of LED lighting solutions, and the rest of the family includes FL7730 and FL7732 LED drivers for TRIAC and analog dimming and non-dimming applications. All of the devices in this complete product line, along with Fairchild's Excel-based LED driver design tools, application guides, reference designs, and evaluation boards, provide designers with a total solution to meet the needs of LED lighting design.
