LED complete industry chain is divided into LED epitaxial wafer, LED chip, LED package, LED application. It is estimated that by 2010, the output value of the entire Chinese LED industry will exceed 150 billion yuan. In the LED industry chain, LED epitaxial wafers and LED chips account for about 70% of the industry's profits. LED packaging is about 10% to 20%, and LED applications are about 10% to 20%. In the LED industry chain, due to the extremely high technical requirements for chips and epitaxial wafers, the mainland is in urgent need of development in this area, especially high-quality epitaxial wafers and chips. The Chinese government has clearly stated that it strongly supports the development of technology in this area, including funding and policy support. At present, there are more than 10 chips and epitaxial wafer companies that can be mass-produced in the mainland, of which about half of them can be produced. Due to the high technical requirements of epitaxial wafers, many chip manufacturers in mainland China have basically purchased epitaxial wafers from abroad and Taiwan and processed them into chips. At present, the quality of chips produced by mainland chip manufacturers is generally much different than that of foreign countries, especially the two parameters of brightness and light efficiency. On the other hand, the output of epitaxial wafers in mainland China is very limited. Although the output has increased greatly in the past two years, it can only meet the demand of domestic packaging enterprises by 20% to 30%. With the rapid growth of LED applications, the demand for LED chips in LED packaging plants will be more urgent.
LED packaging in China has been developed for several years, and the gap between technology and foreign countries is not very large. The output of LED packaging products in mainland China has reached the top in the world. The current development of LEDs is a large proportion of the total amount of low-power LEDs, but the profits have been greatly reduced compared with previous years, and competition has intensified. The development of high power in the past two years is strong, the development speed is quite fast, and the technical level is obviously improved. In 2007, China's LED packaging products reached 82 billion, with an annual growth rate of 30% to 40% and an output value of 16.8 billion yuan.

It has become the world's largest producer and exporter of LED full-color display, solar LED, landscape lighting and other applications. The emerging semiconductor lighting industry is taking shape. Domestically, it has formed certain characteristics in the field of lighting. Among them, outdoor lighting has the fastest development. There are hundreds of LED street lamp companies and dozens of demonstration roads have been built. However, domestic large-size LCD backlights and automobile headlights still lag behind. LED display screens in China have been widely used; LED lighting is on the rise; LED automotive lights are widely used, among which the most demanding large headlights may have new breakthroughs this year; LED backlights for LCDs have reached practical application this year. LED street lights in 2008 may be heavily invested in road lighting; LED general lighting concept will be more clear and so on.
