Analysis of four major problems of LED display technology

LED displays are continuously evolving, with an increasing number of manufacturers entering the market. As display technology becomes more standardized, competition has become extremely intense. In the future, LED displays are expected to become thinner, brighter, and more versatile. As their applications expand across various industries, people's understanding of them has also deepened. From a technical perspective, Shi Jiguang highlighted four major challenges in China's LED display technology: First, the issue of LED control chips. As a new high-definition display medium, LED screens offer clear images and excellent performance, attracting growing attention. The three-primary LED die is the core component of an LED display unit. Therefore, high-quality dies with minimal wavelength differences and strong luminescence should be used. However, this advanced technology is mainly controlled by international leading companies. Second, heat dissipation remains a critical problem. Outdoor environments can be extremely hot or cold, and LED displays themselves generate heat. If the temperature is too high and heat is not properly managed, it could cause integrated circuits to malfunction or even burn out, resulting in system failures. Third, brightness is still a challenge. LED displays must maintain sufficient brightness in various outdoor settings to effectively convey information. However, due to insufficient brightness of current LED lights, they are often limited to decorative purposes rather than being used as primary lighting sources. This limitation poses a significant obstacle for the widespread use of large-scale LED systems. Fourth, chromatic aberration is a common issue. While a single LED bead typically doesn't show color variation, when multiple beads are combined, color inconsistencies become more noticeable. Although there are techniques to reduce this problem, domestic production and technological limitations still result in slight differences between LED beads in the same color zone. These differences are hard to detect with the naked eye, making it difficult to ensure accurate color reproduction and realistic image quality on LED displays. To stand out in such a competitive industry, LED companies must overcome these four key challenges. Only by addressing these issues can they build a solid foundation and remain at the forefront of the market.
