Analysis of four major problems of LED display technology

LED displays are continuously evolving, with an increasing number of manufacturers entering the market. As display technology becomes more standardized, competition is becoming fiercer than ever. In the future, LED displays are expected to become thinner, brighter, and more versatile. From a technical perspective, Shi Jiguang highlighted four major challenges currently facing China's LED display technology. First, there is the issue of control chips. As a new high-definition display medium, LED screens offer clear images and excellent performance. The three-color LED die is the core component of the display unit. Therefore, it's essential to use high-quality dies with minimal wavelength differences and strong light output. However, this advanced technology is primarily controlled by international large companies, which creates a challenge for domestic manufacturers. Second, heat dissipation remains a critical problem. Outdoor environments can experience extreme temperature fluctuations, and the displays themselves generate heat. If the temperature is too high and heat isn't properly managed, it can cause integrated circuits to malfunction or even burn out, leading to system failures and poor display performance. Third, brightness is still a significant concern. LED displays must maintain sufficient brightness in various outdoor conditions to effectively convey information. However, due to limitations in current LED brightness, they are often used as decorative elements rather than primary lighting sources. This restricts their full potential in large-scale applications. Fourth, chromatic aberration is another key issue. While a single LED bead typically doesn't show color inconsistencies, when multiple beads are combined, color differences become more noticeable. Although there are techniques to reduce this problem, domestic production and technological limitations result in variations within the same batch of LED beads. These differences are hard to detect with the naked eye, making it difficult to ensure accurate color reproduction and realistic visuals on LED displays. To become a leader in the industry, LED companies must overcome these four major challenges. Only by doing so can they remain competitive in an increasingly saturated market and achieve long-term success.
