California Micro Devices (CAMD) today announced the availability of the ultra-low capacitance electrostatic discharge (ESD) device PicoGuard CM1227 for the most advanced digital consumer and computer applications. The CM1227 provides four channels of +/-15kV contact ESD protection and exceeds the IEC61000-4-2 Level 4 standard. Today's most advanced digital consumer and computer applications, such as digital TVs, set-top boxes, computers and computer peripherals, are increasingly using advanced high-speed serial interfaces such as USB 3.0, MIPI(R), eSATA, DisplayPort and FireWire. These low-voltage signal interfaces require extremely high rise and fall times, and capacitive loads typically do not achieve this speed for ESD protection devices installed on signal lines.
