Analog Semiconductor's SiTIme Corp. (SiTIme CorporaTIon) today announced the introduction of the smallest and lowest power 32 kHz TCXO (temperature compensated oscillator). With its small footprint and ultra-low power consumption, the SiT1552 MEMS TCXO is a breakthrough in miniaturizing the size and battery life of wearable electronics and the Internet of Things (IoT); such benefits are not available with conventional quartz devices.

The SiT1552 is the smallest TCXO available today, in a 1.5 x 0.8 mm chip scale package (CSP). The SiT1552 MEMS TCXO can perform a variety of functions in one system, such as:

• Heartbeat clock for battery monitoring
Compared to quartz TCXO, the SiT1552 TCXO has:
• 20% quartz, 1.5 x 0.8 mm CSP
• 50% lower than quartz, only 0.75 microamperes (typical) of supply current
• 45% thinner than quartz, 0.55 mm height
• 10 times faster than quartz, 0.3 milliseconds (milliseconds) start-up time,
• 30 times better than quartz (impact resistance),
• Better than quartz 15 times reliability, 5 million hours MTBF (2 FIT),
Other features of the SiT1552 TCXO include:
• 5 PPM frequency stability, extending battery life by 2 to 4 times compared to 180PPM quartz resonators
• NanoDriveTM - Programmable, low swing output minimizes power consumption and connects directly to downstream processor or PMIC oscillator/RTC circuits
• 1.2V to 3.63V operating voltage, making it ideal for products with button cells or super capacitor backup batteries
