What is the net quality of the “explosive money”? This product is 100% unqualified

The "Air Purifier Industry Information Briefing" took place in Shanghai today, where key updates on the recent developments in the air purifier sector were shared. The event highlighted a major safety risk assessment conducted on "FFU Air Purifiers," as well as an online investigation into so-called "explosive models" of air purifiers. The meeting also covered product quality evaluations and follow-up actions, with a public consumer warning issued to raise awareness about potential risks. Hosted by the Shanghai Environmental Protection Industry Association (SEPIA) and its Air Purification Equipment Committee (also known as the Air Purifier Industry Alliance), the briefing aimed to address growing concerns about product safety and quality in the rapidly expanding market. **What’s behind the “explosive” air purifier? The findings are alarming.** Before this year's 3.15 Consumer Rights Day, the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision commissioned the Association to conduct a product quality and safety risk survey on popular FFU air purifiers available both in stores and online. The results revealed serious quality and safety issues, particularly with FFU models. FFU stands for Fan Filter Unit, commonly used in cleanrooms and industrial settings due to their high airflow and efficient particulate removal. As more companies recognized the potential in the air purification market, FFUs have gradually moved from industrial use to consumer products, often marketed as "FFU air purifiers." Testing of 13 FFU units found that all failed safety standards, resulting in a 100% failure rate. Among six online "explosive model" units tested, brands like Sakura Man and Pu Reisen had不合格 (non-compliant) products. According to a report from Dongfang.com, the Association has shared these findings with industry players, prompting internal reviews. However, follow-up checks showed that some FFU air purifiers are still being sold on e-commerce platforms, with similar products remaining widely available. The Association has reached out to quality control authorities and e-commerce platforms, urging them to track and remove these unsafe products. In response, the Association issued a consumer warning: it is advised to exercise caution when purchasing such products until their quality issues are resolved. **Air purifier quality can be checked online** At the end of 2017, the "Shanghai Platform for Product Quality Improvement" was launched on the official website of the Shanghai Municipal Quality Supervision Bureau. This platform allows consumers to access quality data for air purifier manufacturers and products, including enterprise quality commitments. It also serves as a channel for the quality supervision department to release inspection results, risk warnings, and consumer guidance. **Proposing the establishment of an “Industry Development and Promotion Work Committee”** As part of the 2017 Air Purifier Product Quality Evaluation initiative, the Association found that some enterprises still fail to meet basic household air purifier standards. To further enhance quality assurance, the association is planning next steps. In light of current market challenges, members of the alliance proposed the creation of an “Industry Development and Promotion Work Committee,” composed of leading brand representatives. This committee aims to promote the healthy growth of the air purifier industry through effective marketing, quality leadership, and guiding consumers toward informed purchasing decisions.
