The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said at the press conference that as of the end of March, China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Unicom had 30.8%, 42.5%, and 26.7% share of 3G subscribers respectively. The gap in mobile income growth has narrowed significantly, pushing the market competition pattern toward a balanced direction.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, from January to March, the industry has added 4.83 million 3G mobile phone subscribers (including 1.615 million TD subscribers), with a cumulative total of 18.08 million (including 7.69 million TD subscribers). 3G videophone, mobile phone video and other personal applications, broadband Internet access, home gateway and other home applications, wireless city, video monitoring, mobile office and other industry information applications continue to emerge, and mobile payment, mobile reading and other new services are gradually being developed. From January to March, the number of new users using mobile Internet services was 27.006 million, the total number of users reached 174 million, and the mobile user penetration rate reached 22.4%.
According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, from January to March, 3G network investment completed 6.04 billion yuan, of which TD completed 2.06 billion yuan. As of the end of March, 36.7 million 3G base stations have been built (including 106,000 TD outdoor base stations). Driven by 3G, the rapid development of the communications equipment manufacturing industry has driven the electronics manufacturing industry to pick up speed.
